Eastern Washington University is currently seeking an Assistant Track & Field / Cross Country Coach. This position is housed in the athletic department and will report to the Director of Track and Field / Cross Country, the designated administrative sport supervisor, and, ultimately, the Director of Athletics. It is the responsibility of the Coach to work closely with the Director to design, organize, implement, facilitate, oversee and evaluate all facets of a Big Sky, NCAA Division I assigned sport program. Several components of this job include, recruiting, , fundraising and public appearances of the coach. This position provides educational, monitoring and supervisory components, as well as working within a shared facility. This person will work closely with the equipment, sports medicine, strength & conditioning, and classified staff, as well as Compliance and Academics. Will also work collaboratively with relevant constituent groups on campus.
It is also the responsibility of the Coach to study and know all policies and procedures integral to the University, Big Sky Conference and NCAA rules compliance. Will assist in the direction, develop and management of all aspects of the assigned sport program including but not limited to; recruiting, talent evaluation, conducting training and development of student athletes within the team concept, scheduling, budget management, supervision of additional staff and monitoring academic progress of the team. Required Qualifications:* Bachelor’s Degree in a related field.
* Valid Drivers License. * Minimum of one (1) year experience in coaching, organizing, executing, and evaluating collegiate-level cross-country and long distance running programs or commensurate experience. * Demonstrated ability to apply a responsive and flexible approach that is supportive of the needs including universal access of our students, faculty, staff and the public.Travel will be required for a minimum of 25 nights per year. Must be able to work nights and weekends to adjust for practice and competition times.
